With so many 'top' home based businesses, how do you find the right one?

With the explosion of the network marketing and home based business industry, many people are wondering, who are the top home based businesses? Of course, when you get started in the work from home industry, you want to be sure that you are making the right decision. You want to succeed, so you are on the search for the company that will give you the best opportunity to do that.

The problem is, there are so many options…and with the majority of struggling MLMers telling you that they have the best company, the best products, the best comp plan… how do you trust? It’s all a bunch of b.s., and I don’t want you to fall for it… because all home businesses are not created equal. There are certain things that you should know before you go just signing up with a company. Don’t let your emotions fuel you into a decision you regret, make sure to do your homework on the company you are thinking about getting involved with. Here are some tips that I thought would be helpful when finding the top home based businesses…you could be making possibly the biggest decision of your life.

The first thing you want to check into is the product. This is a good place to start so you can find out exactly what you will be promoting and if, in fact, you can stand behind it. It will give you a better idea on whether or not you think you can sell that product….if the market is there. Trust your intuition, if you wouldn’t want it, why would other people? Ask yourself this: would this product sell in the stores if there was no compensation plan attached? If you’re not convinced, think about moving on.
Check into the history of the company. How many years have they been around? Do they have a lot of complaints from customers, or a lot of positive testimonials? Do they have any restrictions or recalls? You know how to do it, just google it and see what people are saying. It will hard to be a part of a company with a bad reputation. Also, if a company has been around for a long time, you know people have made money with them….so there is a strong possibility that you could too.
Look into the company leadership. The top home based businesses have strong management teams with proven success in the MLM, or at least sales, industry. Check into what they have been able to accomplish in the past, as well as their vision for the future. Of course, the more experience the better. Without strong leadership, the company will have a hard time being successful…and that passes onto the distributors.
What training and resources does the company offer? Do you get a website or an online presentation? Do you get access to a backoffice or some other resource that allows you to use the internet in your marketing strategy? Does the company offer training to show you how to be successful…something that is proven to work and duplicatable? Most companies will tell you to make a list of 100 people you know, contact them, and see if they want to join. This could work, but it definately limits you. Because when your warm market runs out, what happens next? Especially if you find out most people won’t want to join you. Without proper training, you need a good mentor so you can learn what is working right now.
The final tip I have is to find the right sponsor or upline. You want to get started with someone that you know has some knowledge and success in the industry. The top earners have the money to set up a easy, duplicatable process and will know how to guide you in the right direction. You are going to want a leader as your sponsor, not one who just tells you to make a list and call them… but someone who can give you some insider tips on what has got them to the level of success they have achieved. I’m not saying the sponsor needs to hold your hand…more that they should lead by example by constantly improving and sponsoring more reps. This creates momentum. Momentum leads to residual income which leads to financial freedom.

Once you know what to look for, you will have a much better idea on who you want to start your network marketing career with. There are so many options out there, but it really doesn’t matter. In order to be successful in any company, it requires a large amount of knowledge and self development. It’s really all about YOU, are you a leader? Are you knowledgable? Motivated? Passionate? Do you provide value to the industry? You will attract like-minded individuals, and people will run for the hills if they sense you’re full s**t.
